Throttle And Iron LLC (“Throttle And Iron,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the website https://throttleandiron.com, produces a weekly live motorcycle podcast/media show, runs interactive audience features for that live show, and publishes the Throttle And Iron rider mobile app (“ti-ride-tracker”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the choices and rights you have.
This policy covers all of the following, which we refer to together as the “Services”:
- Our website at https://throttleandiron.com.
- Our live-show audience “play-along” features (on-screen trivia, polls, and giveaways you vote on from your phone through our website).
- Our use of the YouTube Data API v3 to operate our own live broadcasts.
- The Throttle And Iron rider mobile app (“ti-ride-tracker”) available on the Apple App Store and Google Play, listed as “Throttle and Iron.”
By using the Services, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.
1. YouTube API Services Notice (Required Disclosure)
Our live-show features use YouTube API Services. In particular, our in-house tools use the YouTube Data API v3 to operate our own YouTube channel during live broadcasts.
By using our live-show features, you are also agreeing to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service.
Your interactions with YouTube data through our Services are also governed by the Google Privacy Policy (also available at http://www.google.com/policies/privacy), which describes how Google collects, uses, and protects your information.
You can review and revoke Throttle And Iron’s (and any other application’s) access to your Google/YouTube account data at any time through the Google security settings page at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions (formerly https://security.google.com/settings/security/permissions). See Section 9 (Your YouTube Data: Deletion and Revocation) below.
How we access YouTube data
Authorization to the YouTube Data API is granted by the channel owner’s own Google account, using OAuth with the https://www.googleapis.com/auth/youtube.force-ssl scope. We use this access only on our own Throttle And Iron YouTube channel (the @throttleandiron channel). We do not operate a public, multi-tenant product, and we do not ask viewers to log in with their Google accounts or to hand over any Google/YouTube login credentials. We never request, collect, or store YouTube login credentials.
What YouTube data we access and why
When you participate in the live chat of our broadcast, our tools may access:
- Your public YouTube channel ID and public display name — used to (a) show a merged on-screen chat view, (b) post auto-welcome greetings, replies, and messages from the host’s channel, (c) track attendance and loyalty/regular-viewer status across shows, and (d) drive on-screen trivia, polls, and giveaways.
- Live chat messages you post — read into a short-lived buffer so we can display them on screen and run interactive segments. We may also post messages, replies, and welcome greetings, and perform light moderation (timeout, ban, or message deletion) on our own channel.
We access this data only from public live chat on our own channel. We do not access private account data, your email address, your watch history, or your subscriptions.
How long we store YouTube data
- The live chat message buffer is short-lived and is automatically purged within 24 hours of the broadcast ending.
- YouTube channel IDs and public display names retained for attendance/loyalty tracking are kept only as long as needed for that purpose, are deleted on request, and in any case are removed after 12 months of inactivity.
How we protect YouTube data
We restrict access to authorized personnel, transmit data over encrypted (HTTPS/TLS) connections, limit our OAuth scope to what the show requires, and store any retained identifiers in access-controlled systems. See Section 11 (Security).

3. Information We Collect
3.1 Information you give us
- Account and contact information (e.g., name, email, username, password) when you create an account, contact us, or sign up for updates.
- Live-show participation data, including the anonymous voter token assigned to your device when you vote in polls/trivia/giveaways from your phone.
- Payment information when you make a purchase (see Section 6).
3.2 Information from YouTube (live-show features)
- Your public YouTube channel ID and display name and your public live chat messages, as described in Section 1.
3.3 Information collected automatically
- IP address, device/browser information, and basic usage/log data from the website.
- For live-show play-along, we record an anonymous voter token + IP address solely to prevent abuse and vote fraud (for example, double-voting or ballot stuffing).
3.4 Information collected by the rider app (“ti-ride-tracker”)
- Precise GPS location — used to provide ride tracking and turn-by-turn navigation. Because the app provides GPS navigation and ride tracking, it collects precise location both while you are using it and in the background (including when the app is minimized or your screen is off), so that navigation and ride tracking keep working while you ride. We use this location only to power those features and to build your own ride/route history. We do not use your location to track, profile, or monitor your movements, and we do not sell or share your location data.
- Ride and route history (tracks, distance, time, and related ride data).
- Account information you provide (e.g., name, email).
- The app uses Mapbox to provide maps and navigation; see Section 5 (Sharing).
- Vendor link interactions — when you tap an in-app vendor/partner link, we log the click (destination, referring screen, device/browser type, and time) to produce the aggregate vendor analytics described in Section 5. This log does not include your identity or IP address.
We request the Android ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION permission (and the equivalent iOS location permission) to collect precise location for ride tracking and navigation. You can disable location access in your device settings, but ride tracking and navigation will not function without it.
4. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Operate and display the live show, including the merged on-screen chat, auto-welcome greetings, trivia, polls, and giveaways.
- Track attendance and reward loyal/regular viewers.
- Prevent abuse and vote fraud in audience polls, trivia, and giveaways.
- Provide ride tracking, navigation, and route history in the rider app.
- Create and manage your account, respond to your requests, and provide support.
- Process payments (via Stripe).
- Maintain security, prevent fraud, debug, and comply with legal obligations.
5. How We Share Information
We share information only as described here:
- YouTube / Google. Operating the live-show features necessarily exchanges data with YouTube API Services, governed by the Google Privacy Policy and the YouTube Terms of Service.
- Mapbox. The rider app sends location and routing requests to Mapbox to provide maps and navigation. See the Mapbox privacy policy at https://www.mapbox.com/legal/privacy.
- Stripe. Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details are handled directly by Stripe and are not stored by us (see Section 6).
- Vendors / partners. When you tap a vendor or partner link in the app (for example, a parts supplier tagged on a bike build), we record the click and give that vendor aggregate, de-identified analytics only — impression/click counts, click-through rate, trends, and their most-clicked links. We do not record who clicked (no name, account, email, or IP is stored with the click), and vendors never see your identity, location, ride data, or whether you purchased.
- Service providers (e.g., hosting, email delivery) who process data on our behalf under appropriate confidentiality and security obligations.
- Legal and safety disclosures when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and our Services.
- Business transfers in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
6. Payments
Payments are processed by Stripe. When you make a purchase, your payment card information is collected and processed directly by Stripe under Stripe’s own terms and privacy policy (https://stripe.com/privacy). We do not store your full card number, CVV, or other sensitive card data. We may retain limited records of a transaction (such as amount, date, and a payment reference) for accounting, support, and fraud-prevention purposes.
7. Cookies and Similar Technologies
The website uses cookies and similar technologies for essential functionality, to remember your preferences, to keep you signed in, and to help prevent vote fraud during live shows. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling some cookies may affect site functionality.
8. Data Retention
We keep personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law. Specific periods:
- Live chat buffer: automatically purged within 24 hours of the broadcast ending.
- YouTube channel IDs / display names (attendance & loyalty): deleted on request, and in any case after 12 months of inactivity.
- Anonymous voter tokens / IP addresses (abuse prevention): retained for up to 90 days, then deleted.
- Account and ride/route history: kept while your account is active and deleted within 90 days after you close your account, unless you ask us to delete it sooner.
- Payment records: retained for up to 7 years, as required for accounting and tax purposes.
When data covered by the YouTube API Services is no longer needed, or upon a valid revocation/deletion request, we delete it as described in Section 9.
9. Your YouTube Data: Deletion and Revocation
You are always in control of the YouTube data associated with our live-show features.
Revoke access via Google. You can revoke Throttle And Iron’s access to your Google/YouTube account data at any time through the Google security settings page at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions. When you revoke access, we will delete the API data related to you that we accessed or stored under that consent as soon as possible, and within 30 calendar days of the revocation, consistent with the YouTube API Services Developer Policies.
Request deletion directly. You may also ask us to delete the YouTube-derived data we hold about you (such as your channel ID and display name used for attendance/loyalty tracking) by emailing christopher@throttleandiron.com with the subject line “Privacy Request.” We will honor valid requests promptly.
10. Your Privacy Rights (Access, Deletion, and More)
You may request to access, correct, or delete your personal information, and you may opt out of marketing communications, by emailing christopher@throttleandiron.com.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights:
- California (CCPA/CPRA): the right to know, access, correct, delete, and opt out of “sale” or “sharing” of personal information, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. As noted in Section 5, we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- EEA/UK (GDPR): rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
To exercise any right, contact christopher@throttleandiron.com. We will verify your request before acting on it and will respond within the time required by applicable law.
11. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect information, including encrypted (HTTPS/TLS) connections, access controls, and limiting OAuth scopes to what is needed. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information and to limit access to authorized personnel only.
12. Children’s Privacy
Our show is general-audience content and our Services are not directed to children under 13 (or under the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact christopher@throttleandiron.com and we will delete it.
13. International Users
We operate from the United States. If you access the Services from outside the United States, understand that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, where data-protection laws may differ from those in your country.
14. Third-Party Links and Services
The Services may link to third-party sites and services (including YouTube, Facebook, Mapbox, and Stripe). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. Please review their privacy policies.
15. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Services after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
